About this site
Words of Rasulullah ﷺ is a quiet place to read what the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said and did, as recorded in the six books: Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, and the Sunan of Abu Dawud, at-Tirmidhi, an-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah. It is not an official site of any scholar, institution or authority, and it gives no rulings. For a ruling, ask a qualified scholar.
Where the text comes from
All hadith text, numbering, book divisions and grades come from a verified hadith repository, which holds 34,390 records across the six books and has checked each one against other editions. Nothing here is re-translated or edited.
- Sahih al-Bukhari: Arabic and English (Muhsin Khan), standard sunnah.com numbering 1–7563.
- Sahih Muslim: Arabic and English (Abdul Hamid Siddiqui), reader numbers, a running count that lists every chain separately. They are not the standard numbers used elsewhere; search by wording to find a Muslim hadith on another site.
- The four Sunan: Arabic, English and grade. The grade is the first one listed in our source (al-Albani for Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah). Other graders sometimes differ.
- The Arabic for Bukhari and Muslim comes from open hadith datasets (fawazahmed0 hadith-api for Bukhari; AhmedBaset hadith-json for Muslim, with a few records from an OpenITI edition of Sahih Muslim), each matched to its English by content, not only by number. About 160 Sahih Muslim records whose Arabic could not be matched with confidence are shown in English only.
The ✓ mark
“✓ 2” means the same hadith was found in two external sources when the copy was cross-checked. It does not name the sources and it is not a grade.
What is left out of the featured picks
The hadith of the hour, hadith of the day, the topics and the quiz only use records that have been confirmed in at least one outside source and has not flagged. 37 records are currently under review; they stay readable in their books, marked “Under review”, but never appear as a featured pick. Records with damaged or missing text are left out of the picks too.
